Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy Local Authority in West Midlands, are looking for an experienced HR Policy Consultant to join their team and play a crucial role in their human resources operations.

Position: HR Policy Consultant

Rate: £350 per day (Umbrella, Outside IR35)

Contract Duration: Temporary (Sep 2026) with Possible Extension

Purpose: Responsible for developing, updating, and implementing employment policies, procedures, and terms of service.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review, refresh, and draft HR policies ensuring they are legally compliant, modern, and compatible with council digital transformation and intranet frameworks.
  • Consult and negotiate with recognised Trade Unions and internal stakeholders to reach policy agreements.
  • Analyse ER case trends (e.g., grievances, disciplinaries) to identify policy gaps and areas where manager capability requires upskilling.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
  • At least 1 year experience within a HR Policy Consultant role or equivalent.
  • Qualified or working towards CIPD Level 5 (or higher) as a minimum, or significant demonstrable equivalent experience in HR policy.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
