Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in the West Midlands, are looking for an experienced Housing Welfare Officer to join their team and play a crucial role in their housing and welfare operations.
Position: Housing Welfare Officer
Rate: £23.10 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract: Temp (Sep 2026) + Hybrid Working
Purpose: To provide a highly specialised Housing and Welfare service on all matters relating to Housing, Housing rights in accordance with the homelessness legislation, income maximisation, promotion of welfare benefits, protection of welfare rights and the delivery of increased prosperity and wellbeing to customers across the borough in accordance with Council policy, procedure and objectives.
Job Responsibilities:
- Help residents manage accommodation agreements, sustain tenancies, and avoid arrears.
- Support the delivery of joint working and externally funded projects and initiatives within the service and with other partner agencies/stakeholders.
- Give guidance on welfare benefits, financial inclusion strategies, and budgeting.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- Understanding of social housing law, safeguarding frameworks, and the welfare benefits system.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
