Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in West Yorkshire, are looking for an experienced Housing Assistant to join their team and play a crucial role within their housing operations.
Position: Housing Assistant
Rate: Β£17.70 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (July 2026) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid (1 day in the office)
Job Purpose: As a Housing Service Officer, you will support the Housing Manager and deliver the operational duties of their service/business area.
Job Duties:
- Carry out all administrative tasks in relation to receipt of keys and termination of tenancies, including checking of relevant documentation.
- Develop high quality, informative adverts in consultation with Neighbourhoods Housing Officer, to enable intelligent lettings.
- Work with partners such as the accessible homes team to ensure appropriate use of and turnaround on properties that are adapted or suitable for adaptation.
- Support Housing Officers with keeping void turnover to a minimum, by preparing documents e.g. by ensuring that sign up packs are made available in advance and contain all relevant information, setting up tenancies and processing all changes in tenancy such as Mutual Exchange, Joint to Sole and succession changes.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- GCSE (or equivalent) Grade 4 (C) or above in English & Maths or equivalent.
- Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to interact effectively and sensitively, in person, via the telephone and in writing with a range of stakeholders, internal and external.
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
