Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Southeast London, are looking for an experienced Head of Audit to join their team and play a crucial role in their Resources Directorate.
Position: Head of Audit
Rate: £560 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: Temp (Jan 2027) Possible Extension + Hybrid Working
Purpose: The Head of Audit is responsible for overseeing the effective and efficient management of the Council's Internal Audit, Anti-Fraud, and Insurance functions, as well the provision of an effective financial governance and risk management function to ensure the integrity and appropriateness of financial management across the Council.
Job Responsibilities:
- To organise, control, review and develop the effective and efficient operation of the functions of Internal Audit, Anti-Fraud, Insurance, Financial Governance and risk management, ensuring that effective monitoring and performance management arrangements are in place to achieve stated strategies, aims and objectives.
- To provide an independent and evidence-based assurance to management and other stakeholders that their key risks are being managed effectively.
- To ensure the Council's Insurance function is managed effectively, controlling all payments made to and from the fund.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
- Full membership of one of the professional accountancy bodies required by S.113 of the Local Government Finance act 1988 (preferably CIPFA) or an appropriate qualification through the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors (CIIA).
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
