Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in Hampshire, are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join their team and play a crucial role within their financial operations.

Position: Finance Officer

Rate: £236-276 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)

Contract Duration: Temporary (Sep 2026) Possible Extension

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Job Purpose: Process high volumes of financial transactions to agreed SLAs with accuracy and consistency.

Job Duties:

  • Investigate and challenge discrepancies, ensuring full compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain, monitor, and continually develop financial processes, controls, and procedures to mitigate risks including audit and fraud.
  • Support and deliver change initiatives to improve the operational performance of finance systems and processes.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
  • Proven experience processing financial transactions at scale.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, statutory requirements, and audit processes.
  • Experience supporting financial reporting cycles (monthly/quarterly/year-end).
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
