Employment Lawyer

Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in East of England, are looking for an experienced Employment Lawyer to join their team and play a crucial role within their finance and legal service area.

Position: Employment Lawyer
Rate: £65 per hour (Umbrella, Inside IR35)
Contract Duration: Temporary (Nov 2026) Possible Extension
Working Arrangement: Hybrid/Mainly Remote

Job Purpose:

• Dealing with employment law matters (preparing and conducting own cases, complying with tribunal directions, disclosure, witness statements, preparing bundles, settlement agreements) including representing the Directors at disciplinary hearings, appeal committees and the Employment Tribunal as required, advising officers and Members including at disciplinary hearings and appeals.

Job Duties:

• The provision of legal advice either verbally and/or in writing to Directorates, Officers and Elected Members as and when required. Drafting ET3 responses. Providing TUPE advice.
• To assist in the provision of an efficient and effective legal service to the Council, its Members, various directorates and officers, especially in the area of employment law.
• Instructing Counsel to act or appeal on behalf of the Council in circumstances where the best interests of the Council so require.

Job Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• SRA – Solicitors Regulation Authority.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
