Are you eager to land a brand new role? Our client, a busy local authority in West Midlands, are looking for an experienced Corporate Financial Accountant to join their team and play a crucial role in their financial systems operations.

Purpose: You will bring your expertise to lead and support the small in-house Finance team and will operate as the Council's ‘intelligent client’ in relation to engagement with the wider programme team including the external software implementation partner.

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will lead the delivery of the Finance and Accounting workstream within a wider programme that will seek to stabilise and optimise the core finance system ahead of implementing Unit4 HR/Payroll, replacing the Council’s existing solution.
  • As the Corporate Financial Accountant – ERP Implementation, you will be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Finance and Accountancy, ensuring that the needs of finance business partnering, budget holders and corporate finance users are met.
  • You will play a key role in maintaining, developing, and optimising the finance system structure to support accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and organisational change.
  • Act as the accountancy SME for Unit 4 ERP optimisation project for core financial systems together with integration with a new Unit 4 HR/Payroll module.
  • You will ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the financial data model and associated reporting structures.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
  • CCAB Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA).
  • Proven track record in delivering financial ERP system implementation and financial management modernisation.
  • Demonstrable operational expert knowledge and experience with Unit4 ERP (Agresso).
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
