Tempting Recruitment are working alongside our client, a Local Authority, who are looking to recruit an experienced Personal Adviser (Leaving Care) to join their team based in Ipswich.

JOB SUMMARY

The Personal Adviser is responsible to fulfil the statutory role of Personal Adviser and deliver the range of legal duties outlined in the Children Act 1989 to young people aged 16 to 25 who have been looked after by the council. To hold a caseload of young people and advise, assist and support them to achieve positive outcomes as outlined in their Pathway Plan, ensuring the council remains in contact with them and enables them to make a positive transition to independence and adulthood. This may include partnership working to prevent or reduce the risk and vulnerability factors associated with care leavers, including those who have unsettled immigration status.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The duties and responsibilities of the role will include:

  • As a member of the Looked After Children Service, to take individual and collective professional responsibility for championing the council's diversity agenda, proactively implementing initiatives which secure equality of access and outcomes.
  • Commit to continually developing personal understanding of diversity.
  • To implement and review Pathway Plans, through direct work with the young people, their families, their communities and carers (where appropriate) and support networks, using evidence-based models of support.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

The successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies:

  • Relevant qualification in working with children, young people or young adults.
  • Knowledge of effective safeguarding and risk management practice in relation to vulnerable adults and children.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, research, practice models and policy developments.
