The Role
As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist, you will provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and advice to patients and their carers. Your caseload will include a wide range of acute and chronic care patients, many presenting with complex disabilities, rehabilitation needs and discharge planning requirements. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, ensuring Occupational Therapy input is integrated into each patient's overall care plan, while maintaining a high standard of patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, diagnosis, treatment and advice to patients and their carers.
- Support patients through rehabilitation, discharge planning and ongoing care pathways.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team in an acute hospital setting.
- Contribute to integrated patient care planning and goal setting.
- Work autonomously, prioritising and managing your own caseload with minimal supervision.
- Provide supervision, support and training to junior staff, therapy assistants and students.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
- Previous NHS experience within an acute hospital setting.
- Experience working at Band 6 level or equivalent.
- Strong assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning skills.
