The Opportunity for Branch Manager
We are recruiting an experienced Branch Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day operation and performance of a busy Credit Car Hire branch, specialising in Executive and Fleet Hire, including PCO hire and vehicles for the Film/Television industry. This is an excellent opportunity for an established manager from the car rental, vehicle hire, accident replacement or credit hire sector who is confident managing people, vehicles, customers and operational performance. Previous credit hire experience would be advantageous but is not essential. We are particularly interested in candidates who have successfully managed a car rental or vehicle hire branch and are looking for their next career move.
The Role
As Branch Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the smooth and profitable operation of the branch, ensuring excellent customer service while maintaining strong operational controls and achieving commercial targets. Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, managing and motivating the branch team
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the vehicle hire branch
- Monitoring fleet utilisation and ensuring vehicles are available, prepared and allocated efficiently
- Managing customer bookings, vehicle movements, collections and deliveries
- Managing escalated customer queries and resolving issues effectively
- Monitoring branch KPIs, productivity and operational performance
- Driving revenue growth and identifying opportunities to improve branch performance
- Managing costs and supporting branch profitability
- Ensuring accurate administration and documentation, particularly billings/invoices
- Maintaining high standards of vehicle presentation and branch organisation
- Ensuring compliance with company procedures, health & safety requirements and relevant industry standards
- Creating a positive, accountable and performance-focused working environment
About You
We are looking for a commercially driven, experienced operational manager who understands the demands of running a fast-paced vehicle hire business. You will ideally have:
- Previous management experience within car rental, vehicle hire, accident replacement, credit hire or a similar automotive environment (ideally with B2B experience)
- Experience managing a branch, depot or comparable operational function
- Strong people management and team leadership skills
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of branch performance
- Experience working with operational KPIs and targets
- Strong logistical planning, with an understanding of fleet utilisation & vehicle availability
- Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Confidence dealing with customers, suppliers and business partners
- A proactive and hands-on management style
- A full UK driving licence
