Job Title: Assistant to Transport Manager Location: West Drayton, Middlesex We are looking for an Assistant to the Transport Manager to support them in dealing with the day to day compliance of their operators’ licence and to deliver optimum fleet utilisation and efficiency. This role would particularly suit someone with an interest in motor vehicles or trucks and may have aspirations to become a Transport/Fleet Manager in the future. Our client operate a fleet of Tipper Trucks, including articulated lorries which are used for haulage of materials and supplies for their customers. They have in excess of 80 vehicles on their fleet and the upkeep and maintenance of these vehicles is the shared responsibility of the Transport Manager and the post holder carrying out this role. The role will be largely administrative based and you will be required to support with the following tasks/responsibilities: * Run fleet report checks at the beginning of the day to ensure that the fleet vehicles are correctly assigned to the right driver; * Support with scheduling Servicing, repair, MOT prep and PMI a mixed fleet of heavy commercial trucks; * Ensure that the Driver vehicle checks have been carried out and correctly uploaded onto the Fleet Management software by the drivers; * Investigate any reported vehicle defects/faults and work alongside Transport Manager to prioritise repair schedule; * Maintain accurate records of all fleet vehicle maintenance and maintenance records; * Order vehicle parts and book vehicles in for service/repairs/routine MOT’s * File invoices and update records of repairs; * Co-ordinate/schedule repairs alongside Transport Manager in order to minimise vehicle downtime. * Provide updates to Transport Manager on vehicles in repair/service and chase up progress to get vehicles back on the road as efficiently as possible; * Complete all specific company and official paperwork; * Order correct parts as required to effect repairs and co-ordinate repairs * Be aware of H&S regulations and risk assessments; * Retain a good understanding and knowledge of DVSA regulations, including the HGV Inspection Manual. The core competencies for this role are: * Must have a strong interest in Transport/Fleet maintenance/management * Strong organisational skills and ability to work on self-initiative * Good attention to detail * Time-management and Prioritisation * Knowledge and understanding of car/lorry parts (Desirable) * Post holder MUST be a Full UK Licence holder and confident driving a company van. * ‘Can-do’ attitude, with a flexible approach to work * Communication and relationship building skills * Fluency in Punjabi/Hindi would be a distinct advantage The role offers an immediate start and the salary will be dependent on skills/experience
