Senior Systems Engineer to develop scalable verification and validation infrastructure that supports the integration, testing, and deployment of complex autonomous platforms.

The Role

As a

Senior Systems Engineer , you will play a key role in defining, integrating, and validating complex hardware and software systems throughout the autonomous systems development lifecycle.

Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will lead the design and implementation of scalable system integration and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments, ensuring robust, repeatable, and efficient verification processes for increasingly sophisticated autonomous technologies.

You'll influence system architecture, integration strategies, and validation methodologies while driving continuous improvements to engineering infrastructure and development capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable hardware and systems integration platforms.
  • Define system architectures and verification strategies for complex autonomous systems.
  • Capture, analyse, and translate system and validation requirements into robust engineering solutions.
  • Integrate commercial and bespoke hardware, including ECUs, FPGA platforms, DAQ hardware, communication interfaces, and sensor emulation equipment.
  • Develop modular, configurable, and maintainable validation environments that support multiple hardware and software platforms.
  • Drive system integration, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead technical investigations, system debugging, and root cause analysis across hardware and software interfaces.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, controls, validation, and programme teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support the evolution of verification and validation infrastructure to meet future programme requirements.
  • Promote engineering best practices across systems integration, validation, and test automation.

About You

You are an experienced

Systems Engineer with a proven track record of integrating and validating complex multidisciplinary systems within autonomous vehicles, robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other safety‑critical engineering environments.

You enjoy solving technically challenging integration problems and thrive in collaborative environments where hardware, software, and systems engineering come together.

  • Degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering complex systems integration and verification activities.
  • Experience designing, developing, or supporting Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or advanced validation environments.
  • Strong understanding of hardware and software integration principles.
  • Experience working with ECU communication protocols, including CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and Automotive Ethernet.
  • Hands‑on experience with industry‑standard tools such as Vector (CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape), Kvaser, d SPACE, National Instruments, or similar platforms.
  • Experience integrating sensors, embedded systems, and electronic control units.
  • Excellent system‑level debugging and root cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to influence multidisciplinary engineering teams and deliver technical solutions across organisational boundaries.
  • Autonomous Vehicles (AV) or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
  • Robotics or autonomous robotic platforms.
  • Aerospace, defence, or other safety‑critical industries.
  • Closed‑loop simulation or vehicle dynamics.
  • Python, C/C++, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Test automation and configuration management.
  • Agile engineering environments using Jira, Jama, or similar tools.
