Senior Software Engineer - Android Developer
Overview: Join a pioneering team at the forefront of next-gen computing, building and scaling operating systems that power cutting-edge AR/VR hardware. We’re seeking senior engineers with a deep background in Android OS internals, embedded systems, and system-level development to help integrate Android updates and optimize performance on custom hardware platforms.
Location: Remote with possible occasional travel to London if required.
Contract Duration: 6 months (with strong potential for extension or conversion to FTE)

What You’ll Do:
- Develop and maintain Android OS frameworks for next-gen AR/VR headsets.
- Own integration of Android AOSP updates with internal codebases.
- Build and enhance tools, system architecture, frameworks, and low-level OS components.
- Collaborate with cross-functional product, hardware, and infrastructure teams across international offices.
- Drive system-level API and performance improvements.
- Contribute clean, testable C++/Java code and uplift engineering practices.
What You Bring:
- 6+ years of software engineering experience; 3+ years in OS-level or embedded development.
- Proven hands-on experience with Android OS (AOSP, SDK/NDK, JNI, IPC, ROM development).
- Strong coding skills in C++, Java (Kotlin a bonus).
- Solid experience with embedded systems and/or chipset-level development.
- Exposure to AR/VR headsets, smartphones, or consumer electronics is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Linux internals, Android performance tools, and device security.
Bonus Points:
- Contributions to Android open-source projects or custom ROMs.
- Experience working on hardware-integrated software for mobile, IoT, or automotive systems.
