As a Director of Safety Assurance, you will be an inspiring safety leader who will directly lead and manage the work of the safety assurance team. This will involve leading the business to identify and mitigate risks and ensure compliance with standards. You will develop and implement tools to effectively audit, monitor and review safety performance in relation to building safety, fire safety and health and safety.
This role reports to the Director of Operational Excellence and will have up their own direct reports.
- Proactively identify and manage potential hazards and risks within the business.
- Development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies to reduce or eliminate identified hazards.
- Advise the business on and set in place processes to adhere to relevant safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Monitor and review safety management systems to ensure their effectiveness and continuous improvement, implementing improvements where required.
- Promote and develop a strong safety culture within the business working closely with the senior leadership team.
- Oversee the provision and effectiveness of safety training and education to employees.
- Ensure major risks and safety incidents are reported and investigated to determine root causes and prevent recurrence by sharing learning.
- Ensure key safety information is effectively communicated and share concerns with relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with all key stakeholders to address safety issues.
- Continuously look for areas for improvement in safety performance and work with business leaders to implement any necessary changes.
- Continuously horizon scan and stay up to date on the latest and upcoming safety agenda.
- Be accountable to produce quality performance data, analysis and recommendations for the business.
- Experience of a health & safety leadership role in the residential built environment sector.
- Able to develop and drive the implementation of health and safety strategies in collaboration with leadership teams.
- Experience of leading and inspiring health and safety teams.
- Expert in providing critical management information and giving high quality analysis.
- Able to build and implement performance management and assurance controls.
