To order cooking supplies and prepare and cook meals for customers within a day centre / residential setting. Monday to Friday 8am – 4.30pm Main Responsibilities: – To assist in developing menu plans, ensuring that a wide variety of healthy food is prepared for customers to meet their dietary requirements. – To order all food and cooking supplies direct with suppliers within defined budget to ensure there is adequate stock to prepare meals. – To receive and check deliveries of food and cooking supplies and receive and verify invoices for payment. To prepare and cook food, meeting any special dietary requirements, ensuring that the meal plans are delivered to required standards and on time. – To ensure that meals are prepared according to the agreed meal plans. To inspect and clean kitchen and cooking equipment, document required, report faults for repair, to ensure that health and safety standards are met. – To carry out six-monthly kitchen audits ensuring that the environment meets specified standards. Demonstrate awareness / understanding of equal opportunities and other people’s behavioural, physical, social and welfare needs. Ensure that reasonable care is taken at all times for the health, safety and welfare of yourself and other persons, and to comply with the policies and procedures relating to health and safety within the company. – Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the grade of the post.
