Location: Buxton, Derbyshire (Hybrid Working Available)

Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)

OTE: £65,000+ (uncapped, with no minimum bonus threshold)

Progression: Basic salary increases to £48,000 upon achieving full Competent Adviser Status (CAS).

About the Company:

Templegate Recruitment is delighted to be working with a well-established, independent financial planning firm seeking an ambitious Paraplanner / Trainee Financial Adviser to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Paraplanner or Senior IFA Administrator looking to take the next step into financial advice. The role offers a genuine hybrid route, allowing you to continue utilising your technical Paraplanner expertise while developing the skills and experience needed to become a fully competent Financial Adviser. With full study support, all client leads provided, and a transparent career pathway, this opportunity is ideal for someone looking to build a long-term career in financial planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce high-quality suitability reports and carry out technical research across pensions, investments and protection.
  • Support advisers by preparing recommendations and maintaining compliance standards.
  • Attend client meetings alongside senior advisers before gradually taking ownership of your own client relationships.
  • Deliver holistic financial planning advice as you progress towards Competent Adviser Status (CAS).
  • Manage new and existing client reviews, ensuring an exceptional client experience.
  • Maintain accurate client records and work within FCA and company compliance procedures.
  • Continue developing your technical knowledge through ongoing professional qualifications and training.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working within an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA) practice as a Paraplanner or Senior IFA Administrator.
  • Strong technical knowledge with experience writing complex suitability reports.
  • Ideally Level 4 Diploma qualified (DipPFS/CII/CISI) or close to completing the qualification.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine ambition to progress from Paraplanner into a client-facing Financial Adviser role.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to delivering quality work.
  • Able to commute to Buxton, Derbyshire.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience using financial planning and provider platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of pensions, investments and protection products.
  • Confidence supporting advisers with technical planning strategies.
  • Previous experience as a Paraplanner within an IFA environment.
  • Working towards Chartered Financial Planner status would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Motivated to develop from a technical Paraplanner position into a successful Financial Adviser career.
