Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the newly formed Li laboratory within the Lewis Katz School of Medicine's Aging Cardiovascular Discovery Center. The lab has a broad spectrum of research interests including endogenous cardiac renewal, innate immunity, ischemic heart injury, and cardiac gene regulation.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least four years of directly related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in molecular biology and animal genetics

Job Details

  • This position requires a criminal history review.
  • This is a grant-funded position.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Experience working with rodents.
  • Strong project management, organizational and planning skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of animal surgical practices and how to navigate ULAR and IACUC protocols and regulations.

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for independently managing day-to-day activities of the laboratory.
  • Provide direct assistance to the principal investigator (PI), trainees, students and technicians and assist with the overall management of lab personnel.
  • Establish laboratory policies and procedures in accordance with research protocols.
  • Ensure staff adheres to all policies, procedures and professional standards within the laboratory.
  • Oversee all contractual and collaborative work.
  • Work on complex research projects.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make independent judgments involving changes in methodology or techniques.
  • Understand and implement statistics and the assessment of proper experimental controls.
  • Work closely with laboratory PI on projects and grants.
  • Maintain all ULAR records and breeding records.
  • Monitor the overall status of the animal colony.
  • Maintain all animal protocols and documentation of regulatory paperwork and protocols.
  • Maintain all laboratory documentation for EHRS, IBC and all other documentation necessary for the laboratory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
