Temple University's Public Safety Department is searching for Campus Police Officer Trainees. This role is for individuals looking to start a career in law enforcement. No previous experience is required.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Starting hourly rate: £31.09.
  • Eligible new hires also receive a hiring bonus: £1000 after graduation from the training academy and successful completion of Field Training Orientation (FTO); £1000 one year after FTO completion.

Job Summary

Campus Police Officers provide patrol in both uniformed and plain clothes operations, and carry out all functions related to police services that are primarily for students, faculty and staff of Temple University, and also include the community within the jurisdictional patrol area surrounding the University. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Successful completion of MPOETC pre-employment agility test and provide a Doctor's certification of good health.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a reading comprehension test.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements for Temple University Police Officers.
  • Must be willing to submit and successfully pass a physical, drug screening, psychological exam and background investigation.
  • Must possess a clean criminal and driver history.
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work nights/weekends/early mornings.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize, understand, accept and appreciate the value of workplace diversity, and to respect the practices, values and points of view of other individuals and groups.
