- Position Summary
The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting undergraduate freshmen, transfer, and graduate students, representing the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University.
Recruitment duties include portfolio reviews, developing and managing a recruitment territory; traveling to high schools, college fairs, community colleges, and other events to give presentations and provide guidance on AED programs to students, teachers, parents, and guidance counselors.
Other duties include assisting in planning and participating in on‑campus events; communicating with prospective students in person, by phone, through social media, in writing, and in group presentations; leading special interest groups and high‑profile guests through the enrollment process; evaluating admission applications and responding to appeals; tracking and reviewing applications; reviewing undergraduate portfolios; enrolling an academically accomplished and diverse student body; and serving as the Tyler and Architecture & Environmental Design Admissions liaison to Temple University when appropriate.
Performs other duties as assigned.

- This position requires the following clearances/checks: PA State Police Criminal Background, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- Must be available to work nights and weekends.
- Job offer is contingent upon successfully passing a pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
- Required Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree
- At least one year of directly related experience in an academic setting in higher education or a related field.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Preferred Education
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in art and design or a related field.
- Required Skills And Abilities
- Ability to assess, critique, and evaluate portfolios of work in areas relative to Tyler School of Art and Architecture programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relations skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Access, Excel, Power Point.
- Knowledge and use of personal computers and database management required.
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and access to an automobile for off‑campus recruitment travel.
- Ability to read maps effectively; required use of air or rail travel.
