The Medicines Management Directorate has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed registered Pharmacy Technician to join our vaccine and WDA team based across Princess of Wales and Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda Hospital.
Applicants must have a BTEC and NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences OR equivalent qualifications to enable registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
The successful candidate must hold an Accredited Checking Technician qualification and be willing to work towards the all Wales Accredited Medicines Management qualification if not already completed.
You must possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be self-motivated, and open to developing new ways of working.
Attention to detail, the ability to work well under pressure, and the capacity to work both as part of a team and independently using your initiative are essential for this role.
Main duties, depending on experience, will include:
- Working as an Accredited Checking Technician undertaking the final check and release of prescriptions.
- Dispensing and issuing prescriptions and customer orders as part of the WDA wholesale activity.
- Managing the vaccine supply service across CTM to schools, CVCs, and Primary Care teams.
- Participating in ward-based medicines management, including taking accurate drug histories, assessing patient medication suitability, organising supplies for hospital use and discharge, and providing advice and counselling to patients (if not accredited, undertaking the all Wales qualification to perform this).
- Participating in the induction and supervision of new Pharmacy staff and mentoring junior staff.
