The post holder will undertake the role of Assistant to the Head of Physiotherapy Services within the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. They will undertake the day to day operational management of the Physiotherapy Service and provide professional leadership for discrete specialties across the Health Board. They will work with the Head of Service and leadership team to plan and deliver the long term departmental strategy in line with organisational and professional direction, ensuring plans are developed in line with the prudent principles reflecting safety, quality, effectiveness and efficiency.
The post holder will assist the Head of Service to identify needs, evaluate priorities and plan for the development of the service, seeking to introduce new developments and innovations and ensuring evidence based physiotherapy is implemented. This post will hold clinical, professional, operational and financial responsibility for a number of services across CTMUHB Physiotherapy.
Responsibilities- Provide clinical leadership and operational management of a specific group of staff of all grades within physiotherapy at various locations across the Health Board.
- Maintain personal clinical expertise in physiotherapy as appropriate, including direct supervision of staff, mentoring, clinical caseload management, tackling complex clinical issues, undergraduate education and acting as a specialist clinical resource to disseminate expert information to physiotherapy colleagues, the general public and other health care professionals.
- Be responsible and accountable for a designated area of the budget and the whole physiotherapy budget and resources in the absence of the Head of Service.
- Support the Head in performance management of the whole of the Physiotherapy Service to meet Health Board objectives including financial and Welsh Government targets, and plan and deliver the governance and learning and development agenda.
Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. While it is not essential, applicants who can speak and listen in Welsh at Level 3 (CEFR B2) or above will have an advantage during short‑listing and selection. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health.
