OverviewThis post is fixed term for 12 months from start date due to funding. We are recruiting two Assistant Psychologists to join our psychology team, supported and supervised by a psychologist. Each post will be split across two Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) in Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB. Location of each post will be agreed at interview. Both roles are advertised as 30 hours/week, with potential to increase to full time; this can be discussed at interview. You will also have a small individual caseload for clinical work which will be fully supported and supervised. You will join an innovative psychology service integrated into multi-disciplinary teams. There are good links with the South Wales Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology.Welsh LanguageWelsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. It is not essential; Welsh language skills are advantageous when short-listing and selecting candidates. This is not fluency—just Speaking & Listening at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about everyday health.QualificationsEssentialAn upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology. Eligibility for graduate membership of the British Psychological Society.Ability to use word processing and computer packages for report writing and layout.ExperienceDesirableExperience of working with adults with mental health difficulties.Aptitude and abilitiesCompetence in research design and methodologies.High level communication skills in spoken and written form; ability to work in settings with emotive atmospheres.Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to patients, carers and colleagues.
