My client continues to grow and is a highly specialised independent analytical service provider servicing a wide range of multinational companies across all sectors. The current position has arisen within the Spectroscopy function for an experienced application scientist with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX and FTIR to support the service and development of client projects.

The role of Application Scientist/Spectroscopist will be involved in:

  • Being the matter expert for Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX and FTIR microscope
  • Experienced at handling and preparing a wide variety of sample matrices
  • Ability to perform hands-on troubleshooting with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX
  • Expert at sample and data interpolation – Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), FTIR, FTIR Microscope
  • Hands-on for instrument troubleshooting
  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong communication skills with internal and external clients

To be considered for this Application Scientist/Spectroscopist you must:

  • Ideally have a Degree or PhD in physical chemistry or materials science or equivalent
  • Have 5 years of experience operating and using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), SEM/EDX and FTIR instruments
  • Be able to work within a team, have analytical experience and meet workload deadlines
  • Deliver work to a high quality, working efficiently and within time, and be able to work without supervision
  • Have a positive approach to new methods, equipment and problem solving
  • Have several years of experience solving industry analytical problems within legal, manufacturing or development
