What You'll Do
The department is responsible for the design, development and operation of all technology-related infrastructure to support the business, including on-premises and cloud environments.
They operate a fully virtualised infrastructure using VMware and Microsoft Azure to host a mix of Microsoft Windows and Linux servers running both third party and in-house applications. The on-premises hardware platform is built on Dell Compute, Pure Storage, Cisco networking, and a resilient 10Gbps WAN connecting our datacenter locations and cloud providers.
This new hire will expand their current team and accelerate progress on redesigning their infrastructure to improve their use of public cloud.
This role has two core elements:
- Undertake project work to improve and evolve the technology infrastructure. Projects will typically include designing and deploying upgrades or design changes to major infrastructure components, or introducing new systems into the business. The candidate will be expected to work on projects as required and lead smaller initiatives wherever possible.
- To support, maintain and operate the firm’s critical technology infrastructure, including being involved in our on-call rotas. The candidate will work closely with suppliers and service providers, as well as directly with users and other internal technology teams to ensure a high level of service is maintained.
What You'll Need
- IaaS principles with specific knowledge and experience of Microsoft Azure.
- Microsoft identity services, including Active Directory and Entra.
- Windows Server and desktop, File Services, DNS, Group Policy.
- PowerShell scripting, and development of robust and reusable PowerShell modules.
- An awareness of virtualisation concepts and a basic level of experience with VMware vSphere.
- Working knowledge of IP networking concepts.
- Strong general IT skills, especially Excel and other Office products.
- Experience of supporting users in a Windows environment.
- An aptitude for learning and supporting unfamiliar technologies.
