Are you passionate about supporting children with communication needs? Do you have experience using British Sign Language (BSL) or are you a qualified Makaton practitioner? Tempest Resourcing is seeking dedicated and compassionate support staff to join our partner schools and help students who are non-verbal or have complex communication needs thrive in their learning environment.

About the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 or small-group support to students who are non-verbal or have speech, language and communication needs.
  • Use BSL or Makaton to help pupils access learning, communicate, and develop independence.
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs and therapists to implement personalised support plans.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.
  • Track pupil progress and help adapt resources to their communication needs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds BSL Level 1-3 or is a qualified Makaton practitioner.
  • Has experience supporting children or young adults with SEND (Autism, Global Delay, Speech & Language Needs etc.).
  • Is patient, empathetic and passionate about empowering pupils with communication barriers.
  • Can commit to a long-term school-based role.
