Pay: £112 per day (PAYE)

Tempest Resourcing is recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEN school in the Sutton area supporting pupils with complex needs, autism and associated behaviours that challenge. We are looking for MAPA-trained Learning Support Assistants to join a well-established, highly supportive team from September on a temp-to-perm basis.

The role:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with complex needs and SEMH presentations
  • Using MAPA de-escalation and positive handling techniques as part of an agreed behaviour plan
  • Supporting pupils with personal care needs as part of the wider care team
  • Assisting with communication strategies, sensory regulation and access to the curriculum
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and family liaison staff

What we're looking for:

  • Current MAPA training (or equivalent recognised positive handling qualification)
  • Experience supporting pupils with autism, complex needs or behaviours that challenge
  • Physical confidence and stamina - the role involves active support, positive handling and moving and handling
  • Resilience, patience and a calm, consistent approach
  • Comfortable supporting with personal and intimate care
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
