The Orchards is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Years Teacher to join their supportive team in an SEN setting based in the M32 area of Manchester. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real impact supporting young learners with additional needs at the very start of their educational journey.
The successful candidate will have experience or a strong interest in working within Special Educational Needs (SEN) and will be confident adapting teaching approaches to meet a wide range of needs.
The Needs of the School- Has a nurturing, patient and adaptable approach
- Can confidently deliver the EYFS curriculum within an SEN setting
- Is experienced in supporting children with ASD, speech and language needs, and developmental delays
- Can create engaging, sensory-based and differentiated learning experiences
- Works effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (TAs, SENCO, therapists, parents)
- Is proactive in managing behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
- Understands EHCPs and can contribute to reviews and progress tracking
- Plan and deliver creative, inclusive Early Years lessons tailored to individual needs
- Assess and track pupil progress in line with EYFS and individual learning plans
- Provide a safe, structured and stimulating classroom environment
- Support social, emotional and communication development
- Liaise with parents, carers and external professionals
- Maintain accurate records and reports
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching within Early Years (Nursery/Reception)
- Previous SEN experience is highly desirable
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
- Experience working in a specialist provision or SEN school
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton or other communication strategies
- Safeguarding training
- Team Teach or positive handling training
- Supportive leadership team
