Key Responsibilities Open and secure the school premises at the required times. Carry out daily checks of the school buildings, grounds and facilities. Ensure the site is safe, secure and well-presented throughout the day. Complete basic maintenance and repairs where appropriate. Report larger maintenance issues and arrange or assist with contractors when required. Monitor heating, lighting, alarms, CCTV and other building systems. Carry out regular health and safety checks across the school site. Assist with fire safety procedures, including fire alarm checks and emergency equipment checks. Maintain school grounds, including basic gardening, litter picking and general upkeep. Set up and clear away rooms, furniture and equipment for school activities and events. Manage deliveries and contractors arriving on site. Maintain appropriate records of maintenance, inspections and site checks. Ensure cleaning and waste management standards are maintained. Respond promptly to any site-related issues or emergencies. Support the school with general premises and facilities duties as required. Work closely with the Headteacher, Site Manager and other school staff to ensure the smooth running of the premises. About You The ideal candidate will: Have previous experience in a school, premises, facilities, caretaker or site-based role. Be practical and confident carrying out basic maintenance. Have good attention to detail and take pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Be reliable, punctual and able to work independently. Have good communication skills and be comfortable dealing with staff, pupils, visitors and contractors. Be able to prioritise tasks and respond calmly to unexpected issues. Have a good understanding of health and safety and site security. Be willing to undertake a range of practical duties across the school site.
