About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to join our supportive and dynamic team. We have opportunities available at Levels 1, 2, and 3, depending on experience and qualifications. Working under the direction of the teaching staff and senior leaders, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational, personal, and social development of our pupils. You will work with individuals and small groups, both inside and outside the classroom, helping to ensure that all students can access the curriculum and reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting Pupils:
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with pupils, understanding their individual needs.
    • Support the educational activities and promote the health and well-being of children and young people.
    • Provide tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, including:
      • Sensory and/or physical impairments
      • Cognition and learning difficulties
      • Social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties
      • Communication and interaction difficulties
    • Help pupils access the curriculum by clarifying instructions, providing resources, and encouraging independence.
    • Support pupils in developing key skills such as literacy, numeracy, and behaviour.
    • Assist with offsite activities and contribute to the school's Active Citizens programme.
    • Implement positive behaviour support strategies as outlined in Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Support for the Wider School Community:
    • Work as part of a professional team, contributing to a positive and supportive school culture.
    • Liaise professionally with parents and carers.
    • Attend staff meetings, participate in training, and engage in appraisal arrangements.
    • Adhere to all school policies, including those on safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection.
    • Undertake risk assessments and maintain a safe environment for all pupils and staff.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications and Training:
    • Level 1: A Level 1 LSA (RQF) qualification is desirable.
    • Level 2/3: A Level 2 or 3 LSA (RQF) qualification is essential.
    • GCSE or equivalent at Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths.
    • Or an equivalent qualification listed in the school's accepted qualifications (e.g., NNEB, BTEC National Diploma in Childhood Studies, CACHE Level 3 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning).
  • Experience:
    • Experience working with children in a school or educational setting is desirable.
    • Experience working with children or young people with Autism (ASC) and/or Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs is desirable.
    • Experience in planning and delivering learning activities is desirable.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • A good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice (desirable).
    • Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
    • Good organisational skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
    • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies within an educational setting.
    • Good ICT skills, with the ability to use technology to support learning.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative.
