Are you a passionate, creative, and nurturing teacher ready to make a real difference in the lives of young people?
We are a dedicated special school located in Dorking, providing education for up to 120 boys aged 9 to 16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our students also present with moderate learning difficulties and attachment needs. We offer a highly personalised approach to education, with small class sizes and engaging, tailored lessons that reflect the needs, interests and abilities of each learner.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Nurture Teacher to join our fast-improving school. You will play a key role in both the academic and personal development of our students, supporting them to grow in confidence, resilience and self-esteem.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in line with students\’ individual needs and national curriculum requirements
- Promote continuity, progression, and purposeful learning within a nurturing and structured classroom environment
- Support the pastoral and emotional needs of students, fostering a safe and inclusive space
- Use formative assessment to track and celebrate small-step progress
- Work collaboratively with the wider school team to ensure successful transition and integration into the next phase of learning
What We\’re Looking For:
- Experience of working with or caring for children is essential
- A background in working within schools or with children with SEND/SEMH is desirable
- Strong understanding of differentiation, engagement strategies, and trauma-informed practice
- A warm, empathetic and resilient personality with a passion for inclusive education
- The ability to form positive, respectful relationships with students who may present with challenging behaviours
