Tempest Jones is partnering with a leading UK regeneration and development business to appoint a Senior Project Manager to support the delivery of a portfolio of strategically important projects across the North East. This is an opportunity to play a key role in some of the region's most significant regeneration and placemaking initiatives, including major mixed-use developments in Durham, Newcastle, Gateshead and Sunderland.

Working alongside senior development leadership, you will help drive projects from concept through planning, procurement and delivery, ensuring momentum is maintained, risks are managed proactively and complex stakeholder environments are successfully navigated. This is not a traditional project management role. We are seeking an experienced delivery leader who can operate confidently across development, technical, commercial and stakeholder workstreams, helping to turn ambitious regeneration opportunities into deliverable projects.

The Role

The successful candidate will work closely with senior development colleagues, supporting the progression of major regeneration projects through key development and delivery milestones. You will lead consultant teams, engage with contractors and public sector partners, manage project risks and dependencies, and ensure projects remain focused on achieving successful delivery outcomes.

  • Leading complex regeneration and development projects through pre-construction and delivery phases
  • Supporting projects through planning, funding, procurement and delivery gateways
  • Driving performance across multidisciplinary consultant teams
  • Managing programme, cost, risk and quality objectives
  • Holding consultants and contractors accountable for delivery outcomes
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks, assumptions and critical dependencies
  • Preparing governance papers, project updates and board-level reporting
  • Building strong relationships with local authorities, investors, funding bodies and key stakeholders
  • Supporting the successful delivery of major mixed-use and regeneration schemes across the North East

About You

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have built their careers delivering complex development, regeneration or major project schemes and who are comfortable operating within highly visible stakeholder environments. Suitable backgrounds could include:

  • Senior Project Manager, Development Manager or Project Director within a major developer
  • Associate Director or Director within a leading project management consultancy
  • Pre-Construction Director, Regional Director or senior operational leader from a major contractor

You will likely demonstrate:

  • Experience delivering projects typically valued between £20m and £150m+
  • Strong understanding of development, construction and project delivery
  • Experience working alongside public sector partners and funding organisations
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and decision-making capability
  • The ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships
  • A proactive and delivery-focused approach to problem solving

Why Apply?

  • Work on some of the North East's most significant regeneration and mixed-use developments
  • Play a leading role in shaping major projects in Durham, Newcastle, Gateshead, and Sunderland
  • Influence projects from concept through to delivery
  • Join an experienced and highly respected development team
  • Work within a collaborative environment that values leadership, accountability and commercial thinking
  • Long-term project pipeline and excellent career development opportunities

The successful candidate will be based in Newcastle and should be comfortable travelling regularly across the region, including Durham, where a major innovation district at Aykley Heads forms part of the wider development portfolio.
