A major international engineering consultancy is continuing its significant investment into the UK and European power market and is now looking to appoint an Associate Director to help establish and grow its Power Systems Studies & Grid Connections capability. This is an opportunity to join a globally recognised business during a major growth phase within the energy and power infrastructure sector. The organisation already works with some of the world’s largest hyperscale data centre and technology clients and is supporting major grid connection and infrastructure projects across Europe. The UK power team has grown rapidly over the past two years and is continuing to scale due to an exceptionally strong pipeline of work.
Current demand is heavily focused around hyperscale data centre grid connections, although the wider business is also active across:
- Renewable energy generation
- Battery energy storage systems (BESS)
- Transmission & distribution networks
- Wider energy transition projects
The successful individual will provide technical leadership across power systems studies, grid connection advisory and network analysis projects throughout the UK and Europe. Initially, this role will remain technically hands-on, leading studies delivery and supporting complex client projects across major infrastructure schemes. However, the longer-term objective is for this individual to help scale and develop the wider studies capability as further investment continues into the business. This creates a genuine opportunity for someone to come in at an early stage, establish themselves as a key figure within the team and play a major role in building a growing Power Systems Studies function within a highly respected global consultancy.
Alongside technical delivery, the position will gradually evolve into a broader leadership role focused around:
- Team growth and recruitment
- Mentoring and technical development
- Client advisory and strategic input
- Establishing technical standards and delivery capability
- Supporting the long-term growth of the wider power business
You will work closely with major private sector clients, network operators and internal engineering teams across complex infrastructure projects throughout the UK and Europe.
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:
- Power systems studies and modelling
- UK grid connection processes
- Renewable energy or large infrastructure connections
- Data centre or high-voltage infrastructure projects
- Client-facing technical advisory work
Experience using software such as DigSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP or IPSA would be advantageous. This role would suit someone currently operating at Principal, Technical Director or Associate Director level within a consultancy, utility, developer or specialist studies environment who is looking for a genuine leadership opportunity within a high-growth market.
Strong secured pipeline and long-term demand, significant investment into the UK power team, exposure to hyperscale data centre infrastructure projects, opportunity to help build and shape a growing technical function, clear progression towards Director-level leadership, backed by a globally recognised consultancy brand.
