Tempest Jones are partnering with an award winning multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy to appoint a Building Surveyor or Senior Building Surveyor into its growing Leeds Building Surveying team. This is an opportunity to join one of the strongest multidisciplinary consultancy offices in the Yorkshire market. The Leeds office is now home to around 70 professionals across multiple disciplines and continues to grow as a key regional hub for the business.
Based from impressive new offices in Leeds, you will work within a genuinely collaborative multidisciplinary environment, alongside colleagues across Building Surveying, Project Management, Cost Management, Architecture, Engineering and wider consultancy services. The Building Surveying team works across a broad range of sectors including healthcare, education, residential, retail and industrial. The workload is varied, with a strong balance of project and professional work. As a guide, the role is likely to be around 60% project led and 40% professional building surveying services.
The Leeds Building Surveying team has built a strong reputation for delivering high quality advice across both project and professional instructions. What they are looking for now is someone who enjoys being more than a narrow technical specialist. Someone who can run schemes, manage clients, apply sound technical judgement and continue developing into a more rounded consultant.
This could suit an already chartered Senior Building Surveyor who is looking for a stronger regional platform, or a Building Surveyor who is close to chartership and wants the right support, exposure and environment to complete that journey. The attraction of the role is the balance. You will not be boxed into one type of instruction. You will have the opportunity to work across project delivery, professional surveying, client management and wider team growth.
As Building Surveyor or Senior Building Surveyor, you will:
- Deliver a broad range of building surveying instructions across project and professional work.
- Run schemes and manage client relationships with appropriate support from senior colleagues.
- Prepare specifications, schedules of work, reports and technical advice.
- Support contract administration and project delivery across a varied portfolio.
- Undertake surveys, inspections, defect analysis and professional instructions.
- Work closely with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary office.
- Contribute to client development and support wider business growth where appropriate.
- Continue developing technically, commercially and professionally within a growing team.
We are keen to speak with Building Surveyors and Senior Building Surveyors who have experience within a consultancy environment and enjoy working across a varied workload. You may already be MRICS chartered, or you may be close to chartership and looking for the right consultancy to support you through the final stages of the APC process.
You will ideally have:
- Experience across either/both project and professional building surveying work.
- MRICS chartership, or be actively working towards it.
- The confidence to manage instructions and communicate directly with clients.
- A good technical understanding of buildings, defects and project delivery.
- A proactive, personable and commercially aware approach.
- The ambition to keep progressing within a growing consultancy.
Most importantly, you will be looking for a role where you can continue developing, take ownership of your work and become part of a strong regional team with genuine momentum.
This role offers the chance to join a respected consultancy with a strong Leeds presence, a balanced workload, a collaborative team and the opportunity to develop both technically and commercially. For someone close to chartership, the business can offer the support and exposure needed to complete the journey. For someone already chartered, the role offers the chance to build greater client ownership, take on more responsibility and continue progressing within a growing regional team.
If you are looking for the opportunity to join one of the UK’s most respected multidisciplinary consultancies, work from one of the strongest consultancy offices in Leeds and build your career within a growing Building Surveying team, we would welcome a confidential conversation.
