Senior to Associate Electrical Engineers - Mission Critical Building Services
Competitive salary based on level and experience
Manchester, London or Glasgow | Hybrid working
Permanent | Full-Time
We are supporting a major international engineering consultancy with several appointments across its UK mission-critical building services team.
The business works with some of the world’s leading hyperscale data centre operators, technology companies and colocation providers, supported by an excellent pipeline of UK and European projects.
What makes this opportunity particularly interesting is the position of the business in the market.
Globally, it offers the technical capability, client relationships and project security of a major Tier 1 consultancy. In the UK and Europe, however, the team remains comparatively lean and is entering a significant period of growth.
That creates a rare combination: the backing and resources of a major international organisation, with the visibility, influence and progression more commonly associated with a smaller business.
You would be joining at a stage where your contribution can genuinely help shape how the team develops, while still benefiting from established clients, secured workload and access to international technical expertise.
The role
You will support the design and delivery of resilient electrical systems for complex, mission-critical developments.
Depending on your level, this may include LV and MV power distribution, UPS and standby generation, critical power systems, earthing, protection and resilience strategies.
You may also be involved in technical reviews, specifications, multidisciplinary coordination, client engagement and project leadership.
At Principal and Associate level, the role will include wider responsibility for technical leadership, mentoring engineers, overseeing delivery and contributing to the future direction of the electrical team.
Why this stands out
This is not simply another opportunity to join a large, established data centre team.
The UK operation is still at a stage where good engineers can be visible, bring ideas forward and have a genuine influence on standards, processes and team development.
At the same time, you are not taking the risk associated with joining a smaller consultancy that may have a limited pipeline or depend heavily on a small number of clients.
The business offers access to major international data centre programmes, strong long-term workload and direct collaboration with senior leaders and global technical specialists.
I have worked with the organisation for more than a year and have placed several people across the business. The feedback has been consistently positive, particularly around the culture, recognition, project exposure and investment in employees.
Your background
Previous data centre experience would be highly relevant, but it is not essential.
The business is also interested in Electrical Engineers who have worked in other environments where resilience, continuity and system reliability are critical. This could include healthcare, broadcasting, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, laboratories, airports, defence or other technically complex buildings.
You should have a strong electrical building services design background, experience working within multidisciplinary teams and a sound understanding of resilient electrical infrastructure.
Chartered status would be welcomed, particularly at Principal and Associate level, although engineers working towards chartership will also be considered.
