A well established and rapidly growing construction consultancy is seeking a Cost Director to lead its Cost Management offering in the North West. The business has experienced significant growth in the region, doubling in size over the past three years, and is now looking to appoint a senior cost professional to take ownership of the regional cost management function.
The successful candidate will lead an established team of six and will report directly to both the Regional Director and the National Head of Cost Management. The role carries full responsibility for developing the regional cost management capability while ensuring the team continues to deliver at a high level across a strong portfolio of projects.
From day one the role will oversee live programmes of work valued at approximately £300m across multiple sectors. These projects are already secured and form part of a broader pipeline supporting the continued expansion of the regional business.
In addition to leading project delivery, there is a genuine opportunity to influence and improve the way the cost management function operates. The business is seeking someone who can refine internal processes, strengthen commercial rigour within the team and help shape the next phase of growth for the region.
This role would suit an experienced Cost Director already operating at this level within a consultancy environment. It will also appeal strongly to a Senior Associate or Associate Director who is ready to step into their first regional leadership position and take full ownership of the cost function. Equally, individuals operating at Cost Director level who are seeking a sideways move into a growing and entrepreneurial environment will be considered.
Key responsibilities:- Leadership and development of the North West Cost Management team, currently six professionals
- Oversight and commercial leadership of major programmes of work valued at approximately £300m
- Acting as the senior point of contact for key client relationships across the region
- Supporting business growth through client engagement, networking and bidding for new work
- Leading and contributing to bid submissions and presentations for strategic opportunities
- Providing senior commercial advice across projects operating under NEC and JCT contract frameworks
- Maintaining a hands on approach to delivery where required, supporting the team on complex projects or key commercial matters
- Strengthening internal commercial processes, reporting structures and delivery standards within the cost management function
- Working closely with the Regional Director and National Head of Cost Management to drive the next phase of regional growth
The opportunity offers genuine autonomy, leadership visibility and the chance to shape a growing regional business at a pivotal stage in its development.
