This is a standout opportunity for a Chartered Building Surveyor ready to step into a senior, career-defining role. Acting as the right hand to the London Lead, you’ll take a central role in developing major client relationships, leading project delivery, and helping shape the future growth of a high-performing London team. From day one, you’ll have direct access to senior stakeholders across a diverse client base rather than being kept at arm’s length as is common in larger consultancies. You’ll take ownership of key accounts early on, guiding the delivery of technically complex and high-profile projects while mentoring a talented group of surveyors.
The consultancy is a forward-thinking multidisciplinary practice with strong financial backing and an ambitious long-term growth strategy. Their culture is collaborative, supportive, and quality-driven. They value people who take pride in doing things properly and enjoy being part of a team that’s going places. They work across a wide range of sectors, including heritage and listed buildings, science and education estates, high-end residential, and public sector portfolios. Clients include the Crown Estate, leading universities, ultra high net worth individuals, and several household-name private organisations. Recent work has included a £44m dilapidations claim, complex restoration projects, and the delivery of research and development facilities for major institutions. You’ll also find a growing pipeline of projects for elite motorsport and racing clients from headquarter redevelopments to cutting-edge R&D labs, alongside ongoing commissions in the data centre and residential sectors.
This role offers a rare blend of leadership, technical challenge, and genuine progression. As Associate Partner, you will:
- Act as second in command to the London Building Surveying Lead.
- Lead and deliver a variety of building surveying projects across multiple sectors.
- Build and nurture client relationships from the outset, with full ownership of key accounts.
- Support business development activity, helping grow and shape your own areas of specialism.
- Mentor and develop graduate and junior surveyors, supporting the next generation of professionals.
- Play a key role in scaling the London team as the business continues its growth journey.
We are ideally looking for someone who is a generalist to start with, but with a passion for a particular technical service such as Technical Due Diligence or Dilapidations etc. This is also an opportunity to develop that specialism with full backing from senior leadership and a strong existing client base.
We’re looking for a commercially astute, client-facing Building Surveyor who combines technical strength with natural leadership and a proactive mindset. You’ll bring:
- Experience at Associate or Senior Associate level within a consultancy environment.
- Strong technical skills across core building surveying disciplines.
- Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders and managing client relationships.
- A track record of delivering high-quality projects with attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- MRICS qualification (or equivalent).
What’s on offer:
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Clear route to Director or Salary Partner level.
- Leadership from day one with real autonomy and visibility.
- Broad variety of projects and clients to shape your expertise.
- Hybrid working and a supportive, award-winning culture.
This is an excellent opportunity to take your career to the next level in a business that’s growing fast and investing heavily in its people. For a confidential conversation or more information, please apply with your CV or contact Dean Forster at Tempest Jones directly.
