About the Business
Tempest Jones are partnering with an award-winning multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy to appoint an Associate or Associate Director Mechanical Engineer into its growing Leeds Building Services team.
This is a strategic appointment within one of the firm's fastest-growing regional offices.
The Leeds office is now home to around 70 professionals across multiple disciplines, delivering projects throughout the UK across commercial, education, healthcare, defence, rail and public sector markets.
Within that, Building Services has developed into a high-performing team, generating almost Β£1 million in annual turnover with just seven engineers.
With ambitious plans to grow to around 20 engineers by the end of 2028, the business is investing in senior people who can lead projects, strengthen client relationships and help shape the future direction of the team.
This is an opportunity to join a business where you'll have genuine influence, clear progression and the platform to build something significant.
The Opportunity
This role is about far more than delivering mechanical designs.
The business is looking for someone who enjoys leading people, developing client relationships and helping grow a successful consultancy.
You'll become one of the key client-facing figures within the Leeds office, leading multidisciplinary project teams whilst helping broaden the team's relationships across an already impressive client base.
The project portfolio is exceptionally varied and includes:
- Community Diagnostic Centres and wider NHS programmes
- Commercial office developments
- Defence infrastructure
- Primary, Secondary and SEND schools
- University refurbishments
- Network Rail facilities
- Passenger lounges for major airport operators
- National corporate headquarters and workplace developments
Working alongside colleagues across structural engineering, project management, surveying and wider consultancy disciplines, you'll help deliver integrated solutions across some of the region's most interesting developments.
The Role
As Associate/Associate Director, you will:
- Lead mechanical building services projects from concept through to completion.
- Act as Project Leader across multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Support business development and identify opportunities for future work.
- Mentor and develop engineers as the team continues to grow.
- Ensure projects are delivered to the highest technical and commercial standards.
- Play an active role in the continued growth of the Leeds Building Services team.
The Candidate
Associate level is preferred; however, we're equally keen to hear from ambitious Principal Engineers who have already established themselves as trusted client advisers and are looking for the opportunity to step into a broader leadership role.
You'll ideally have:
- Significant consultancy experience delivering mechanical building services projects.
- Strong project leadership and client-facing experience.
- The confidence to build long-term client relationships and support business development activities.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams.
- Commercial awareness and an interest in helping grow an established regional business.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Chartered Engineer status, or working towards it, would be advantageous.
Above all, you'll be looking for an opportunity where you can genuinely influence the future of a growing team, develop the next generation of engineers and become a recognised leader within a highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy.
If you're ready for a role that offers genuine ownership, influence and long-term progression, we'd welcome a confidential conversation.
