Transport Planning Assistant job description
Temp Station are delighted to announce we are currently recruiting a transport planning assistant to join a busy and established freight forwarding client in the Normanton WF6 area on a permanent basis.
- Assist in ensuring the planned runs are achieved in a timely manner exceeding customer needs.
- Communicating with operations department, customers and hauliers
- Managing all POD’s, uploading them into the TMS and sending any POD requests onto the customer or colleague
- Keeping the transport and sub-contractor log up to date
- Speaking to drivers throughout the day, checking on progress and dealing with any issues that may arise during the shift
- Following and improving processes linked to performance
- Booking out of area or hazardous jobs onto the pallet network/Hazchem portals
- Providing quotes internally and externally, via calls and emails
- Provide holiday cover for the planners
- Will be required to be the lead planner during periods of annual leave throughout the year
- MUST have at least 3 years’ experience working in a fast paced Transport department
- MUST have an understanding of drivers working hours and driving time regulations
- MUST have a good geographical understanding of the UK road networks
