Temp Station Logistics are excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for Class 1 HGV Day & Night Drivers working out of London Gateway (SS17). We are looking for around 15 Day/Night drivers (preferably flexible with working hours) to work for one of our longest standing clients on a container contract starting over the next couple of months. For the right candidates, this position will be a permanent fixture, Monday to Friday ongoing work. Please note there may be additional opportunities for weekend work. This is a great opportunity for experienced container drivers looking for a stable and consistent role in the container industry within a well-established transport company.

Key responsibilities of the job:

  • Movement of containers to and from depots/clients whilst complying with road transport legislation.
  • Ensure daily vehicle checks to make sure your vehicle is roadworthy and safe to use at all times.
  • Practice good time keeping and always arrive at your job on time.
  • Inform the shunt operators of any problems in good time, i.e. if you're running late; good all-round communication skills.
  • Ensure all paperwork is correct and physically checked against your container and seal number.
  • Follow all company procedures, customer procedures and the highway code at all times.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, shunt operators, container control staff and other depots, understand requirements and communicate accurate information on time as requested.
  • Maintain high standards of good housekeeping and health and safety standards.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks necessitated by your changing role within the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Holder of a current and valid Class 1 driving licence.
  • Holder of full CPC Qualification.
  • Previous experience within the container sector would be advantageous.
  • Flexibility with working hours.
  • Good comprehension of written and spoken English.
  • Holder of ADR Licence (Beneficial but not essential).

Full induction will be completed on site including driving assessment and site induction, and all necessary training will be provided. Good working knowledge of docks including Southampton, London Gateway, Tilbury and Felixstowe and all active dock cards for these would be beneficial.

Pay Rates:

  • Days PAYE: £17.00
  • Nights PAYE: £18.25
