We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic

Trainee Accountant to join our finance team based in Great Dunmow.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is actively studying towards their AAT qualification and is looking to develop a long‑term career in accountancy.

Working alongside our experienced finance team, you will gain exposure to all aspects of a busy finance function, with a particular focus on management accounting.

The Role

  • Support bank payments and maintain associated documentation.
  • Assist with general finance and administrative duties.
  • Reconcile the accounting system with the freight management system.
  • Capture and report container sales and hire information.
  • Produce the weekly Aged Debtor report.
  • Reconcile cashflow reports as required.
  • Raise and post intercompany sales invoices.
  • Generate shipping‑based trading data for month‑end reporting.
  • Prepare weekly KPI reports, including commercial trading information.
  • Assist with cashflow forecasting and banking activities.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports.
  • Support account reconciliations across the finance function.
  • Provide cover for colleagues during holidays and periods of absence.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement within the finance department, including supporting the adoption of new technologies and AI where appropriate.
  • Your Experience/Requirements
  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in finance and accountancy.
  • Be actively studying towards an AAT qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
