Job Role
As the Head Chef, you will run the heart of the home, ensuring our residents enjoy delicious, fresh, and safe meals every day. Your responsibilities will include:
- Menu Design: Creating varied, balanced menus that incorporate fresh, seasonal ingredients and cater to modified, diabetic, low-fat, and religious dietary requirements.
- Kitchen Leadership: Preparing, cooking, and serving meals while supervising, mentoring, and training junior kitchen staff.
- Budget and Stock Control: Managing stock levels, ordering ingredients, and keeping purchases strictly within the allocated budget.
- Compliance and Hygiene: Ensuring the highest standards of kitchen hygiene and safety are met, including conducting and recording daily fridge, freezer, and food temperature checks.
- Community: Catering for special events, celebrations, and theme days within the home.
Your Skills and Experience
- Experience: Proven track record working as a Head Chef within a care home environment.
- Specialist Knowledge: A deep and sound understanding of modified diets.
- Qualifications: Relevant food hygiene and professional food preparation certifications.
- Skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and time-management skills.
