The post holder will be part of Temenos' global legal team, reporting to the Associate General Counsel (Privacy and Regulation). The role focuses on providing legal advice on data protection compliance and privacy issues that impact Temenos and its client offerings, ensuring compliance with EU GDPR and supporting client data protection obligations.
Responsibilities
- Advise on, draft, and negotiate data protection elements of client agreements and privacy terms across all regions.
- Develop training tools for regional legal and sales teams on key legal aspects of privacy and data protection compliance.
- Advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Legitimate Interests Assessments (LIAs).
- Collaborate with compliance, product, and security teams to embed privacy by design and privacy by default into products and processing.
- Analyze controller and processor roles and obligations across various business units.
- Provide legal counsel on operational matters related to data protection during the lifecycle of client contracts.
- Advisory on international data transfers within the Temenos group, partners and vendors.
- Advisory on security incidents and breach notification requirements across relevant jurisdictions.
- Provide guidance on ePrivacy Directive, cookie legislation, and electronic marketing regulations.
- Monitor evolving data protection regulations that impact Temenos or its clients.
- Liaise with external counsel where appropriate.
- Manage business contracting templates and update playbooks and toolkits for regional teams.
- Identify legal issues and risks related to data protection compliance and elevate them to the SVP‐General Counsel, Europe as needed.
- Collaborate with procurement to ensure the procurement process incorporates data protection compliance best practices.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure adherence to corporate policies and guidelines.
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer with a minimum of five years post‐qualification experience in the technology sector and data protection, either in a law firm or in industry.
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in data protection matters related to technology and cloud services, with a commercially aware approach to legal and compliance matters.
- Solid knowledge of global privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA and PIPEDA, with preferred credentials such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, or CIPT.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and understanding of the issues involved.
