Who We Are: We are rebuilding the energy transaction, making it transparent and fair. Our goal is to put power back where it belongs, in the hands of customers and to take on one of the most critical problems of our century, access to low cost electricity. tem exists to fix a broken global energy market that’s long favoured legacy operators, intermediaries, and opaque pricing. Today’s electricity system was not designed for rapid decarbonisation, AI‑driven efficiency or fair access for the actual users – businesses and generators. We’ve built the first AI native transaction infrastructure to reinvent how electricity is bought, sold and priced. Our technology is designed to cut out the inefficient fees, automate complex market flows, and bring transparency and fairness to energy transactions at scale.

In late 2025, after extraordinary growth, we closed a $75 million Series B – led by Lightspeed Venture Partners with participation from Albion, Atomico, Allianz, Hitachi Ventures, Schroders Capital and others – positioning us for global expansion, deeper product innovation and category leadership. We’re scaling internationally and building toward a future where AI‑driven infrastructure is foundational to electricity markets worldwide. Since launch, our modern utility product, known as RED, has already facilitated thousands of business customers and billions in energy transaction value, proving that modern software and AI can transform an industry built on legacy systems. At tem, we’re not just building another energy company, we’re rearchitecting market infrastructure so that transparency, efficiency and sustainability become the default, not the exception.

The Role: We’re hiring a VP Communications. Your job is to define how tem is understood and protect that understanding when the stakes are high. This is a corporate communications leadership role with brand responsibility – not the other way round. It reports directly into the Chief Growth Officer.

You will:

  • Be the CGO’s trusted advisor on reputation, narrative and external positioning.
  • Lead PR, corporate communications and executive visibility strategy.
  • Own tem’s response posture in regulatory, political and media environments.
  • Define tem’s brand strategy and long‑term identity evolution.
  • Run the Content & Credibility Service across tem.

You will sit at the intersection of policy, leadership and market narrative – ensuring tem is not just participating in the energy transition conversation, but shaping it.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead PR & external communications
  • Own proactive and reactive corporate communications strategy.
  • Build and run executive visibility for the tem leadership team.
  • Operate confidently in politicised, regulatory and media‑scrutinised environments.
  • Set posture decisions with PR and advisory partners – and hold them accountable.
  • Manage tem’s reputation through complex or high‑stakes moments, not just favourable ones.

Define and shape the category:

  • Clarify the space tem is building and how we frame it publicly.
  • Develop a distinctive point of view on markets, decentralisation and technology.
  • Ensure tem’s narrative compounds over time rather than reacting to news cycles.
  • Partner with leadership to shape the story, not just communicate it.

Build and evolve the brand:

  • Own tem’s brand strategy and long‑term identity.
  • Elevate the visual and verbal system alongside tem’s VP/Creative Director.
  • Build a brand that feels native to technology – with the credibility and edge to match.

Run the Content & Credibility Service:

  • Act as Service Lead for Content & Credibility.
  • Set the strategy and operating model for how tem builds authority – through thought leadership, partnerships, PR and long‑form storytelling.
  • Ensure content reflects real product capability and genuine market understanding.

Lead brand partnerships:

  • Identify and build partnerships that reinforce tem’s position in the ecosystem.
  • Ensure partnerships strengthen credibility and category leadership.

Mentor a high‑performance team:

  • No direct reports. Your work will elevate a small but high‑calibre team.
  • Set a high bar for writing, judgement and taste.

Success Measures:

  • tem is understood as a technology company shaping energy markets, not just another supplier.
  • Strong executive presence and credibility across media, policy and industry forums.
  • A clear and distinctive category narrative that external stakeholders repeat back to us.
  • Leadership confidence in brand and comms judgement during complex or high‑stakes moments.
  • Content & Credibility operating as a strategic service, not a reactive function.
  • A brand that feels distinctive and culturally relevant in a traditionally conservative industry.

Requirements:

Must haves:

  • 10yrs+ experience leading communications and brand in a high‑growth technology company.
  • Proven track record in corporate communications and PR at scale.
  • Experience operating in politically sensitive, regulatory or media‑scrutinised environments.
  • Track record of managing executive visibility and advising senior leadership on reputation.
  • Experience shaping category narratives or repositioning companies through transition.
  • Deep expertise in technology storytelling and product narrative.
  • High writing bar – across long‑form narrative, executive comms and public statements.
  • Comfortable operating close to senior leadership and challenging constructively.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to tie communications strategy to growth and market leverage.

Bonus points:

  • Experience in fintech, infrastructure, energy or regulated categories.
  • Track record of building comms systems that scale.
  • Experience managing media relations in politically complex environments.
  • Obsessed with the intersection of brand and AI.

Profile: We’re looking for someone who leads with communications instinct and backs it up with brand judgement. Visionary but commercially grounded. Comfortable in scrutinised environments. Opinionated with the experience to justify it. You should be comfortable saying: "That’s the wrong posture. Here’s how we respond instead." And making it stick.

Why This Role Matters: Energy is undergoing a structural shift. Markets are decentralising. Trust is fragile. Technology is rewriting the rules. Communications in this category cannot be passive. It must be credible, technically literate, and brave enough to lead. If you’ve managed reputation and narrative in complex, high‑trust categories and want to do it in energy – this is that opportunity. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities, including those that are traditionally underrepresented in the tech and energy sectors. If you’re excited about this role but not sure you meet every requirement, we’d still love to hear from you. Your unique perspective could be exactly what we’re looking for.
