We are rebuilding the energy transaction, making it transparent and fair. Our goal is to put power back where it belongs, in the hands of customers and to take on one of the most critical problems of our century, access to low cost electricity. We exist to fix a broken global energy market that’s long favoured legacy operators, intermediaries, and opaque pricing. Today’s electricity system was not designed for rapid decarbonisation, AI‑driven efficiency or fair access for the actual users – businesses and generators.

We’ve built the first AI native transaction infrastructure to reinvent how electricity is bought, sold and priced. Our technology is designed to cut out the inefficient fees, automate complex market flows, and bring transparency and fairness to energy transactions at scale. Since launch, our modern utility product, known as RED, has already facilitated thousands of business customers and billions in energy transaction value, proving that modern software and AI can transform an industry built on legacy systems.

We’re hiring our most senior design role ever at tem. This is an Individual Contributor design role. It exists because some design problems are too important, too cross‑cutting, and too foundational to be solved through standard team delivery alone. You will be the single accountable design owner for Tem’s design platform and product experience – spanning interaction patterns, UI foundations, design tokens and components, design‑to‑code contracts, and AI‑enabled workflows that make high craft scalable.

Responsibilities

  • Own design outcomes end-to-end across key product surfaces: from problem framing to production‑quality UX and UI.
  • Be the ‘taste maker’ for the next generation of Agentic experiences in Energy.
  • Build the AI native design platform that makes delivery predictable with AI: define semantic tokens, reusable components and layouts that enable builders to rapidly prototype and ship.
  • Design interaction systems for AI that scale: clear patterns, constraints, and behaviours that keep experiences consistent as the AI‑first product is created and expands.
  • Solve complex product constraints in the open: trade‑offs between speed, quality, consistency, accessibility, and technical reality.
  • Set clear design narratives and decision‑quality standards for trust, clarity, and craft.
  • Be AI‑first in how work ships: apply AI to prototyping, iteration, and production support in ways that are reliable and governed.
  • Orchestrate across Product, Engineering, Data, and other partners; influence without authority through structured communication and high craft.
  • Make quality visible and explicit; build confidence that design decisions are intentional, repeatable, and scalable.

Success measures

  • Teams ship faster with higher consistency and quality.
  • A design platform that builders trust and use by default.
  • Reduced delivery friction across product areas.
  • Clear improvements in user experience quality and usability outcomes.

Requirements

  • Exceptional Product Design experience with clear end-to-end ownership.
  • Loves building with AI and for AI, pioneering new technologies to solve complex user problems.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional experiences that drive core business metrics (direct and indirect, and prove how).
  • Deep experience building AI‑augmented workflows where outputs are reliable and governed.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling design platforms utilising AI tooling.
  • Strong intuition for all interaction states, edge cases, and implementation reality.
  • Comfort working deeply with engineers and setting standards for exceptional experiences.
  • Clear, structured communicator, knows what not to compromise on, high signal to noise ratio.
  • Operates with role model level judgement without needing a management title.

Bonus points

  • Can ship production level code, with and without AI.
  • Experienced in User Research, both in practice and methods.
  • Experience working in enterprise grade regulated, complex, or high‑trust products.

Benefits & Perks

  • Salary aligned to internal benchmarks and reviewed twice a year.
  • Stock options so everyone has ownership in our mission.
  • 25 days holiday plus public holidays. Swap public holidays for the ones that matter most to you, and enjoy your birthday off.
  • Remote first and flexible working, with clear core hours and no internal meetings on Friday afternoons.
  • Home working and wellbeing budgets.
  • Up to £1,200 or €1,200 per year for your remote setup.
  • Up to £150 or €150 per month for wellbeing.

Interview Process

We move fast. Most processes take 2 to 3 weeks from first chat to offer. If you need us to adapt anything, let us know.

  • Intro call with Talent, 30 minutes.
  • Hiring Manager interview, 60 minutes.
  • Skills interview with cross‑functional leaders, 60 to 90 minutes, including a practical exercise.

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, experiences, and identities, including those that are traditionally underrepresented in the tech and energy sectors.
