Job Summary

As a Broadcast Engineer, you can’t resist solving problems. Your investigative skills will be put to the test as you work to diagnose and find solutions, activate or repair. You collaborate with stakeholders to ensure our networks and infrastructure are operating efficiently and delivering value to our customers and ensuring optimal network availability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 2nd Line Support for equipment in London MCR / DCs in relation to Telstra’s Internet Delivery Network (IDN), Global Media Network (GMN), Special Events Network (SEN), 2110 systems and cloud platforms.
  • Work with teammates and operations teams to facilitate any changes to config/ upgrades or maintenance on any live platform system.
  • Be able to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during live broadcast for live events.
  • Assist in the installation and configuration of equipment.
  • Stay informed about advancements in broadcast technology and industry trends.

  • Ability to work under pressure and handle live broadcast situations.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues.
  • Good understanding of broadcast regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ensure network documentation remains up-to-date and knowledge is transferred to relevant teams.

Technical Proficiency in the following:

  • Working within IT environments.
  • Familiar with IP streaming technologies.
  • SMTPE standards 2022/2110 knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge of ASI, SDI, DVB, MPEG transport streams.
  • Encoder/decoder hardware operation and configuration.
  • Experience with multi vendors (for example Harmonic, MediaKind, InSync, GV, Nevion).
  • Common broadcast terminology and solutions.
  • Familiar with transmission automation systems.
  • Familiar with OTT streaming systems such as AWS.
  • Technical and/or broadcast training and qualifications.
