A leading renewable energy operations and maintenance provider is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join their growing technical team. The role will support the maintenance, fault finding, and optimisation of renewable energy assets across the East Midlands region. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, inspections, testing, and technical support across a portfolio of renewable energy sites. This is a field-based role requiring strong electrical knowledge, a safety-focused approach, and the ability to work independently across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on renewable energy assets.
- Diagnose electrical faults and implement corrective actions to minimise downtime.
- Complete inspections, testing, commissioning, and performance checks.
- Support inverter, transformer, LV/HV electrical systems, and associated plant maintenance.
- Complete service reports, maintenance records, and technical documentation.
- Work safely in line with company procedures, RAMS, and HSE requirements.
- Liaise with customers, site teams, and internal engineering support.
Requirements:
- Electrical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / HNC or equivalent).
- Experience within renewable energy, solar PV, electrical maintenance, or industrial engineering.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and technical documentation.
- Experience working independently in a field service environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel across the East Midlands and support occasional wider site activities.
Desirable Experience:
- Solar PV O&M experience.
- HV/LV systems experience.
- Inverter, transformer, or protection system knowledge.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Electrical testing qualifications.
