The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Associate Director to join their expanding tax team. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio spanning compliance and advisory work across multiple sectors and business sizes. You'll manage complex tax matters while developing strong client relationships and mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tax advisory services on corporate restructurings, mergers, and acquisitions
- Deliver tax due diligence reviews and purchase price allocation support
- Advise on capital allowances claims and optimization strategies
- Handle R&D tax credit claims and creative industry tax reliefs
- Provide guidance on loss relief planning and group restructuring
- Advise on diverted profits tax, anti-hybrid rules, and international tax matters
Qualifications
- ACA, ACCA, or CTA qualified
- Minimum 5-8 years in UK corporate tax practice
- Strong understanding of UK corporation tax, group relief, capital allowances, and international tax principles
- Experience working with both SMEs/OMBs and larger corporates or listed entities
- Proficiency in CCH, IRIS, or similar tax software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain complex tax matters clearly
- Strong business sense with practical, solution-oriented approach
- Previous FTSE or listed company tax experience
- Exposure to M&A tax due diligence and transaction support
- Knowledge of IAS 12 and deferred tax accounting
- Experience with international tax matters and transfer pricing
- Big 4 or top 100 firm background
- Experience managing HMRC enquiries and technical disputes
- Understanding of digital tax requirements and tax technology
