The governors of High Ercall Primary School are looking to appoint an experienced and capable school leader who can build on its success and drive further improvement in teaching and learning for all pupils. Following a long period of stable leadership, this is a genuine opportunity to lead a well‑established, community‑focused school with high expectations and clear ambitions.

Responsibilities

  • Protect and strengthen the culture of high expectations.
  • Ensure consistency across all areas of the school.
  • Build on strong behaviour and attitudes to drive further academic outcomes.
  • Continue to develop the curriculum so that it is ambitious for all learners.
  • Balance warmth with firm leadership.
  • Bring consistency to teaching, assessment and expectations.
  • Strengthen SEND provision and ensure it is embedded across the school.
  • Improve clarity and rigour in curriculum delivery and pupil outcomes.
  • Maintain strong safeguarding while tightening systems and compliance.
  • Be visible, present and actively involved in the day‑to‑day running of the school.
  • Set high expectations and follow through, being confident leading teaching and learning improvements.
  • Balance strategic leadership with operational delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with staff, pupils, governors and parents.
  • Be resilient, pragmatic and solutions‑focused.
