This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of ensuring fair, timely, and effective access to education for children across the area.

The post holder will be responsible for processing applications for school places - including in-year applications - while working closely with families, schools, and key partners. You will manage complex and sensitive admissions cases, negotiate difficult placements, and ensure that every child receives an allocation in accordance with statutory guidance and local procedures.

A key element of the role will be developing and maintaining accurate admissions data, supporting ICT improvements, and preparing clear, concise reports to support decision‑making. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Work directly with families, schools, and colleagues to secure appropriate and timely school placements.
  • Manage challenging and complex admissions cases, providing clear advice and maintaining robust records.
  • Prepare reports, data, and documentation to support allocation rounds and operational planning.
  • Assist with ICT development relating to admissions systems, ensuring data quality and efficiency.
  • Present the Local Authority's case at school admission appeals.
  • Contribute to phase transition planning, helping ensure smooth progression for pupils moving to new schools.
About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Customer focused, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Confident and resilient, able to negotiate effectively with families and schools.
  • Organised and efficient, with the ability to manage a busy workload and meet statutory deadlines.
  • Experienced in a fast paced environment, ideally within education, local government, or another public facing service.
  • IT confident, with strong skills in Microsoft Office and experience of working with data systems.
  • Able to present clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Why Join Us?
