Job Introduction
We are looking for someone who cares about customers; whether you are speaking with them over the phone or face-to-face, you will want to help and give them a service that is second-to-none. If you think this is you, we would love to hear from you.
In return, whilst working towards your Level 2 Customer Services Apprenticeship, you will receive a wealth of training, support, and knowledge of local authority services and front-facing customer service.
The training programme will give a broad understanding and knowledge about the large variety of services provided by the team, and enable the apprentice to gain a range of skills. The post-holder will report to the Customer Contact Centre Team Leader, meet with their line manager frequently, attend regular team meetings and receive ongoing support.
To be eligible for an apprenticeship you need to:
- Be resident in England and have the right to work in the UK.
- Be aged 16 or over.
- Not be in full-time education or already undertaking other DfE-funded training that would be covered by the apprenticeship.
- Not already hold a qualification at the same level or above in the subject area of the apprenticeship qualification you will be undertaking.
- Be willing to work towards Maths and English at the appropriate level if not already achieved.
If you are interested in starting a career with the council, perhaps looking for your first job after leaving school or college, you will combine work with studying to work towards achieving nationally-recognised qualifications while gaining valuable skills and practical experience.
If you hold a degree, you are eligible for an apprenticeship at any level; however, it must provide you with substantive new skills and you must be able to evidence that the content of the training is materially-different from any prior qualification or apprenticeship.
The apprenticeship content will be tailored to suit the tasks you will be doing in your day-to-day work, and you will receive support and guidance in building a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your competence in the workplace.
We believe great services start with great people — and that means building a workforce that reflects our community. At Telford & Wrekin Council, everyone belongs and every voice matters.
A CV template is available if you do not already have a CV.
What we offer:
- Competitive salaries and a fantastic leave package — starting at 24 days, rising to 32 days with service, plus 8 bank holidays and an extra concessionary day to enjoy.
- Flexible working and career progression.
- Staff discounts and salary sacrifice perks.
- Free parking and confidential wellbeing support.
- Hybrid working model - whether you're in the office or working from home, we support a balance that fits your personal and family commitments.
Roles involving children or vulnerable adults will require a criminal records check. It’s an offence to apply if you’re barred from working with these groups.
Please note: We do not hold a sponsorship licence for visas.
